AT THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT 12/10/11

AT THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT
Woke up very early this morning, left home 6.30 am for the Federal High Court Ikoyi, for Ema’s  Copyright infringement case. Thanks to terrible traffic i get to court at exactly 8.30am, which is good time since court sits at 9am. Coincidentally as i drive into the car park, i drive pass other lawyers leaving the car park, apparently, none of the courts would be sitting today, as the judges were all attending a conference. This is one of the countless situations faced by litigation lawyers in Nigeria. Most cases drag for years, we were in court 3 months a ago, the judge was not in court, and a long date was given to us because the judge was going on vacation.  Today we take another date for 29th November 2011. Its frustrating, i lament , because all our preparations................. Bar Tijani joins us and we use the opportunity to hold a short meeting. Bar Tijani informs us that he has spoken with another senior lawyer who is an expert in intellectual property, he tells us that we need to review our questions in Re examination. We may have to hold another meeting before the next court sitting.

Driving round lagos not easy, today i learnt our to drive out from ikoyi using the 3rd main land bridge, my next destination in Corporate Affairs Commission, i have been informed that the certificate for one of the company’s i registered was out. The 3rd main land bridge is great i am at CAC in no time.
Back at the office, i meet with a client who wants me to draft a deed of Assignment for him, i am also registering a company for him. I really don’t know, why  people don’t like paying lawyers. Its sickening! We bargain back and forth before we strike a deal. Na wa oh!.
I go for my lawn tennis game in the evening.  End of today.
